'Tis the season of giving! As 2018 comes to a close, remember to recognize all the individuals in your life who have helped you along the way and consider paying it forward and giving back to your community by volunteering your time at your local Boys and Girls Club.
Earlier this year The Manufacturing Institute announced a new partnership with the Boys & Girls Clubs of America on the STEP Initiative. This partnership focuses on recruiting young women into manufacturing by showcasing the world of modern manufacturing careers and highlighting female industry role models.
For more than 150 years, Boys & Girls Clubs of America (bgca.org) has enabled young people most in need to achieve great futures as productive, caring, responsible citizens. Today, 4,300 Clubs serve 4 million young people annually through Club membership and community outreach. The Clubs are located in cities, towns, public housing and on Native lands throughout the country; some also serve military families in BGCA-affiliated Youth Centers on U.S. military installations worldwide. They provide a safe place, caring adult mentors, fun, friendship, and high-impact youth development programs on a daily basis during critical non-school hours. Priority programs emphasize academic success, good character, citizenship, and healthy lifestyles.

GREAT SUGGESTION Serena!!!! We're going to start looking in different directions.
During MANUFACTURNG DAY/Month (2018) we had difficulties getting trade and high schools interested in visiting our facility. We've been promoting the program for many years and feel we've been successful in introducing "SPRING & WIRE FORMING" manufacturing to those who visited. The majority had no clue companies like ours even existL However, finding new groups to visit seemed difficult.
Therefore, we've decided to take a bit of a different approach and not simply focus on the month of October. Since EVERY DAY is a MFG DAY at our company so we're going to start inviting groups in during the entire year. This way they are not locked in to a specific month early on in their 1st semester. We especially would like to invite the students parent too. Many parents focus on a 4 year college which isn't always the answer for everyone. Plus it's become very expensive.
We also offer FREE career training for those who are truly interested in learning a trade and getting a life-long career in a SPRING & WIRE FORMING Manufacturing Industry. And we'll pay them to learn!!!! What a deal!!!!
