Crystal Bryant-Kearns serves as the Site Manager for the USO Pathfinder Program at Fort Riley, KS. In this role, she is responsible for supporting transitioning service members and their families as they transition into their future communities following their military careers. USO Pathfinder is a holistic approach to transition and areas of support include resources in Employment, Education, Veterans Benefits, Financial Readiness, Housing, Legal, Volunteerism and Family Strength & Wellness.
Crystal was born and raised in Tennessee, but has called Kansas home for the last fourteen years. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Sociology from Middle Tennessee State University and served as a Teacher in an inclusive classroom setting at Vanderbilt University’s Susan Gray School for ALL Children before moving to Manhattan to pursue her Master of Science degree in Family Life Education and Consultation from Kansas State University. Since moving to Manhattan, Crystal has served in various community outreach roles. She began serving as a Family Development Specialist for the Manhattan-Ogden school district, USD 383 educating families on parenting and relationship building, in addition to connecting them with local financial, legal, employment and healthcare resources. When given the opportunity to serve as a Membership Manager for the Girl Scouts of NEKS & NWMO, she took the role of recruiting, training and supporting 400+ volunteers in a 9 county region, including Fort Riley to support the mission of a youth leadership development program. In 2008, Crystal was offered the role of Family Services Program Manager for Picerne/Corvias at Fort Riley, KS. In this role, she served as an information and resource hub for soldiers and their families living in on-post housing. In this role, she built many relationships with both military and civilian community resources specifically focused on supporting military families. During this time, she also joined Kansas State University as an Adjunct Instructor as part of their Human Ecology Department. Crystal later joined the Via Christi team as the Director of Hospitality, Guest and Volunteer Services. During her tenure with the hospital, she served on the Mercy Annual Red Dress Gala Committee, the Mercy Community Golf Classic committee, on the Leadership Development team and as the AIDET champion for the hospital. Crystal was recruited to pilot the USO Pathfinder program at Fort Riley in the summer of 2016 to support transitioning service members and their families. Crystal is passionate about being involved in her community and currently serves on the Konza Rotary Board, the Konza United Way Board of Directors, the Leadership Manhattan Board, as the Friends of Leadership Chair, and is a long-standing member of the Military Relations Committees for both the Manhattan and Junction City Chambers of Commerce. Crystal is always looking for new opportunities to serve within her community and enjoys encouraging others to do the same.
Crystal has a personal passion and understanding for the military and loves being part of the USO Team. In her personal time, Crystal enjoys spending time cooking, traveling, and enjoying the outdoors with her Veteran husband, Ben and their three children; Elanor, Blaine and Charlotte.
